First Reef

Back in the day First Reef at Cronulla Point broke when the swell was too small for 2nd Reef. It was a consistent sucky little barrel that broke most of the time and offered plenty of tube time for the Point locals. These days the First Reef doesn’t break or barrel anymore like it used too. Some blame sand mining at Wanda, others say seaweed maybe the reef it self changed, who knows.This photo taken in the 70’s shows you the inside ledge as it used to break.
