In the early 90’s the two Aussie young guns named Shane were our best hope of holding off the Momentum Generation led by Kelly Slater coming out of the USA. Both Herring and Powelly had the talent but as time would prove lacked the same drive as their American counterparts and both careers seemed to end prematurely while Slater’s went from strength to strength.
