Pipe Drowning
This day I was shooting Pipeline when photographer Dean Wilmont came out of the surf. We spoke for a few moments when he spotted a board tomb-stoning in the shallows. He bolted back out and Tommy Carroll and he were the first to reach the victim. The surfer was a young guy from West Oz and he was knocked unconscious and been under water for a very longtime. When they got him to shore he was purple and half the ocean came pouring out of his mouth. We all thought he was a goner. This guy defied the odds and came to after a lot of cpr and lived. He survived unaffected physically except for a cut on his head by his near death experience.
