When this shot was taken at Midway at Cronulla in the early 80’s young Potts was one of the first to experiment with  floaters and was introducing them into his contest repertoire. For a while he was unbeatable and had the edge on all his rivals. If he pulled 3 floaters on the same wave in his heat his opposition was blown out of the water and had no comeback.
