Cronulla Point
When I grew up in the 70s around Cronulla, The Point was the spot. The best surfers rode here, it had the best waves and tubes and it was a place where you had to earn respect to be welcome in the lineup. It was a tough local hang. Grommets were abused and the blowins were belted if they dropped in. The landscape hasn’t changed all that much, the sandstone cliffs are still there and so are the waves. The vibes are a lot mellower these days and longtime legend Popout reckons the tubes on there day havent changed one bit. I checked it out this morning and it brought back a few memories.
Small days are a Grommets paradise. The drain, surfboards used to get washed up the pipe pre legropes Tradewinds still towers overhead The sandstone cliffs have lasted the test of time Local legends are remembered Scribblers, is nothing sacred The same dirt track hasnt changed much
